The Fire-Gard curtain provides the benefits of an off-the-shelf lightweight design which eliminates the problems of steel shutters. It requires less preparation time and no special steelwork structure to install.

Designed for openings of up to 32m wide x 8m high in the fire compartment wall, the Fire-Gard curtain is a totally new concept. It eliminates the dangers posed by heavy steel shutters which could drop causing casualties or breakages. It is especially suited to clean, hygienic environments such as kitchens to hospitals, or as equally at home over windows and reception areas.

The Fire-Gard curtain is tested to BS 476 part 22 & 4 hour fire shutter performance to BS 7346 part 3 for smoke.

Specifications

The Fire Curtains are manufactured from woven glass fibre reinforced with stainless steel wire and coated both sides with a micronized aluminium polymer which will automatically descend under the power of gravity upon receipt of a signal from the fire-alarm panel and automatically retract when the signal is removed. The lower edge of the curtains will incorporate a twin inverted, Galvanised steel angle which acts as a weight bar to anable the curtain to unwind upon receipt of a signal from the fire alarm panel, this helps to stabilise the curtains and provides a stop against the underside of the head box.

240+ Fabric exceeds the performance required for materials used in the manufacture of smoke and fire curtains and blinds, smoke screens; cavity walls and roof void fire barriers etc.
240+ Fabric is a woven glass fibre fabric, reinforced with stainless steel wire and coated on both sides with a specially formulated micronized aluminium polymer which provides an effective heat reflective surface as well as other properties required for materials used in the manufacture of smoke and fire curtains and blinds, smoke screens, cavity wall and roof void fire barrier applications, when installed in public buildings with open areas, where public safety is paramount, both onshore and offshore.
As a coated fabric, 240+ Fabric offers advantages over similarly approved materials, in terms of minimal smoke permeability and reduced skin irritation. The material is flexible and easy to piece together to install.
Bottom RailA strong roll formed bottom rail 1.6mm thick fitted to bottom of the curtain.
RollerThe roller size depends on the size motors used, which are 24 volt DC with gravity, fail safe system up to certain sizes. The head box dimensions start at 150mm x 150mm up to 300mm x 300mm depending on the dimensions of the curtain, Galvanised mild steel head box which is normally bolted to the fabric of the building. Galvanised steel side guides complete with our fabric retaining mechanism will be supplied to form a seal between the curtain fabric and the structure of the building. The channel guides very from 50mm to 150mm with an overall sizeof between 75mm to 200mm per side depending on the width of the opening.

If the curtain is the only means of exit from the building we would strongly recommend that a push button control is installed on the inside to prevent trapping.
