Admiral Building On Behalf Of Sir Robert McAlpine
n March 2013 after fierce competition Harlech Industrial Doors were awarded the Admiral Building contract by main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine to supply and install electrically operated fire curtains to each floor level, a security roller shutter and 2no. fast action doors to the car park entrance.
With fire prevention being a forefront for clients, it was tasked to Harlech Doors to design, manufacture and supply 24no. Fire-gard fire curtains, 3no to each level of the building, which on fire alarm would automatically drop down to create a 120 minute fire resistant barrier.
In December 2013 Harlech Doors started the process of installing all doors, with the installation lasting approximately 2 months while working closely with all other trades on each level of the building.
The curtains would sit up above the ceiling boxed in and guides hidden with-in the side openings meaning all reveals are hidden to the eye (as shown on the pictures attached), thus for giving maximum fire prevention, without any industrial look to the structural openings.
‘It was a very challenging job as there was no support structure in place to install the curtains, so we had to fully design, manufacture and install support rods over the 9 floors to fit the curtains. This further justifies how Harlech Industrial Doors are committed to finding a solution to any problem on site to get the job done right in the correct & professional manner we pride ourselves on within the budget given’
